American Idol Tour

Carly Smithson of the FallenCarly Smithson New Frontwoman for Evanescence

6/22/2009 |

American Idol finalist Carly Smithson has a new gig as the frontwoman of Evanescence. Actually Evanescence is no more. The group has now been dubbed the Fallen. The Fallen is comprised of all the original members of Evanescence (Ben Moody, John LeCompt, Rocky Gray) minus Amy Lee who departed the group to pursue her solo career. Bassist Mary O'Brien will also join the newly formed group.

The new band's debut single will be called "Bury Me Alive" which will be a free download from their site wearethefallen.com beginning Monday. A tour is already in the planning stages and is set to launch on a US tour in September. New songs from the group will trickle out along the way.

Carly Smithson showed on season seven of Idol that she can dig in her heels as a rocker and put on a show. Now that Simon Cowell is firmly in the rearview mirror, her real job is to convince the Evanescence fanbase that the enthralling vocals of Amy Lee aren't the only pipes that can power this group.
