American Idol FinalistsIdols Prepare to Kickoff Tour

6/29/2009 |

The American Idol tour kickoff is just days away (July 5 in Portland, Oregon), and the top 10 finalists of season 8 are ready to dazzle America. In just under two months, the tour will trek through 50 cities, dotting arenas around the country. It's a tough trek, but the finalists won't have to worry about surviving each week. Now its time for them to have fun, basking in the Idol spotlight.

For the setlist compositions, each artist seems to have a mixture of songs that etched their place on the American Idol stage and a few favorites of their own they've chosen. Winner Kris Allen will be singing his signature tunes of "No Boundaries" and "Heartless" while also throwing in the classic "Hey Jude." Electrifying stage performer Adam Lambert will be taking on some Bowie and Muse with "Life on Mars," "Fame" and "Let's Dance." Quirky Megan Joy will be handling the appropriate "Tears Dry on their Own" by Amy Winehouse while Matt Giraud will show off his piano chops with Ray's Charles' "Georgia on My Mind." Basically, you'll get to experience 10 little shows all wrapped up into one.

Kris Allen and Adam Lambert may have been joined at the hip during competition, but they've taken different paths since the show's final bow. Kris went non-stop for about two weeks afterwards then he finally found a full night's rest. Adam took 4 days of rest at a friend's place while he geared up to power into the awaiting drama. Hi-fi Records is set to release a set of demo tracks that Adam recorded pre-Idol, and Lambert is fighting the unauthorized release. Both Allen and Lambert are hard at work on their forthcoming release both tentatively tabbed for late-fall.

The onslaught of fame has been eye opening for Lambert. Madonna is giving him advice on how to deal with the waves of the business.

Alison Iraheta is just glad to finally have the girls back in the fold. The three of them will have their own tour bus away from the sausage fest where their largest decision will be to play Rock Band or Guitar Hero.
