Kris AllenKris Allen Drops "No Boundaries" from Setlist

It turns out "No Boundaries" is worse than any of us had previously thought. Kris Allen has officially bounced his first single from his set list on the American Idol Tour. At the Sacramento tour stop, audiences found that "No Boundaries" was mysteriously MIA while being replaced by the Killers' high energy "All These Things I've Done." Is Kris throwing Kara DioGuardi's song under the bus? Not officially.

When asked why the swap was made, Allen told MTV News that "We were talking to the tour director and stuff, and it kinda just didn't work with the set." He went on to say, "Obviously, adding the Killers song was a, you know, boost in the energy." Given that his performance set list includes mellower fare like Bill Wither's "Ain't No Sunshine", Kanye West's "Heartless" and the Beatles' "Hey Jude", he makes a valid point, but one wonders if that is the true motivation behind exiling one of the worst American Idol singles ever. Given some of the dogs they've forced on winners over the years, that is saying something.

Evidently, Kris Allen's fans didn't mind the switch at all. The Staples Center show in Los Angeles that followed seemed to find a very ebullient audience, applauding the drop of the stink bomb from Allen's otherwise solid set. Regardless, this marks the first time an Idol winner has distanced himself from his assigned single while on tour. I guess the big question is, will "No Boundaries" find itself noticeably absent from his album's setlist when it hits the store shelves this fall. We'll have to wait and see.
